as much as we hate admitting it, lately it seems as though no one's willing to put a whole lot of thought or effort into their pb characters; whether it's due to the fact that not many communities make it to first or second adds or the fear of being ostracized for trying something new, here at efforts, a bit of dedication, creativity and the courage to step outside the box will get you a long way. this isn't a ploy to reinvent roleplay or a claim that what we're doing will undoubtedly work out and essentially provide a long lasting game however, we're hoping that requiring a little extra brain power might just motivate you all to stay interested in your role and, in turn, put in a bit more work as far as helping the community get on it's feet goes. where typical communities might require a bio, a list of facts or a first post, we're going to request that you, instead, pitch to us the idea it is you have for your pb. in a locked post, write up a few simple sentences about what it is you plan to do with your character; explain something about their personality, what they do for a living, what they aspire to be, their childhood or their deepest, darkest secret and the direction you plan on taking them in. the key to success in doing this, in our opinions, is to set aside your fear of the unknowns and not worry about what you think will or will not be accepted by other characters. at this point it's safe to say everyone's sick of the mary sue's and the joe somebody's and seeing something new and outlandish would be not only interesting but refreshing as well so give it your best shot, leave your expectations at the door and get back into the writing aspect of roleplay.
because specific locations have come to be such a huge issue in pb as of late, we've decided a statewide community would be our best bet and the state we've chosen is california. as far as the update limit goes: the standard three weeks seems fair (and long) enough to us but keep in mind, your activity will not solely be based on your character's updates. posting in the subcomms and interacting over aim will also help us gauge how lively you are as member and, if we notice you're only posting an update once every three weeks and seemingly dead in the time in between, your pb will be available for override. in character usernames and screennames will be required though we'll allow a nickname journal (ie: squints, buddy, sticks) if it's something your character is often referred to as. while we aren't huge fans of challenging, especially when it comes to pb, considering the nature of this community and our desire to get together a really great group of fun and interesting characters, we'll allow one challenge per pb. we aren't going to ask that you keep your character a complete secret since, obviously, that'd make it difficult to get yourself any type of line before hand you might need to either help play out your idea or just to have a little something to count on for consistency however, we ask that you don't promote everything about your character out in the open. if you need something filled for your character, post in rps asking if anyone's interested in filling a line and if you get a reply, pm them as opposed to commenting with a detailed bit about your character and the line you had in mind for all to see.

if you're up to the challenge we've proposed and would like to make a hold, please do so below! your hold will last until first adds and will guarantee you the opportunity to apply with your pb. keep in mind we will be allowing one challenge per pb, or essentially two applications per pb (the holder and the challenger or two "challenges" in the event the holder fails to apply) so setting up and applying is crucial if you're set on using the pb you hold for your character.
